My Story

It started with a dog named Max.

Years ago, I adopted a scruffy, scared rescue who flinched at every sudden movement and hid behind the couch for the first week. He didn't have a name yet, and he didn't trust a soul. But slowly — one walk, one treat, one quiet evening at a time — he started to come out of his shell.

The day I finally felt like he was mine, I wanted to get him something special. Something that said you belong to someone now. You're safe. I went looking for a collar with his name on it — something handmade, something with a little love in it. And everything I found was cheap, mass-produced, and cold. Plastic clasps that broke. Letters that faded. Nothing that felt worthy of the bond we'd built.

So I made one myself.

I sat at my kitchen table for hours, picking out every bead, spelling out his name one letter at a time. When I finally clipped it around his neck, something shifted. He pranced. People stopped us on every walk. And I realized that collar wasn't just an accessory — it was a little badge of love, proof that this dog mattered to somebody.

That's when MadeByEmma was born.
